Volunteer Opportunities

Probably the most important aspect of volunteering with the Coalition is the chance to work together with friends to make a program or event successful. Volunteers are always needed to keep things running smoothly.

Elder Friends
Peer Support of Dane County

As an Elder Friend volunteer, you are matched with an older adult in your community and both of you arrange for weekly visits. The Elder Friends Program gives homebound or isolated seniors a chance to connect with a warm listener, and provides volunteers with a meaningful way to give back to their communities. In most cases, long lasting and mutually rewarding relationships develop. The Elder Friends Program is one of the best ways to address the problem of the psychological health and social isolation among our homebound seniors. Volunteers will be asked to:

complete a Volunteer Application
be able to perform independently
clear a background check and two reference checks
complete training with Peer Support Coordinator and attend yearly workshop

If you can help, call Anita Brown-Huber, Peer Support Coordinator today at 608-846-9469 or by e-mail abrown-huber@thecommunitycornerstone.org.

Brat Fest Volunteers Needed

brat fest banner Brat Fest is right around the corner, May 25th - 28th, and as an original agency participant, the West Madison Senior Coalition is once again participating in the Memorial Day Brat Fest sponsored by Metcalf's Market.

We encourage you to consider volunteering and to invite your family and friends to join you in your volunteering efforts. Volunteering at Brat Fest is fun!

Your support of this event helps us assist older adults with programs and services that enhance independence and enrich lives.
