Testimonial Letter:When one muses over a lifetime of personal events, fate and providence inevitably come into play. While both refer in some way to predetermination, only providence connotes divine direction. Indeed, it was providence that bought me to the offices of the Coalition 3 years ago. I had just left my elderly parents--Dad with prostate cancer at 87 and Mother at the age 86 with a mind-numbing dementia already taking its inevitable toll. They lived in Karen Arms Apartments on Segoe Road and I had agreed to run over to the nearby postal outlet for them. As I closed the door I recall being overwhelmed by feelings of sadness and desperation. The former because I realized that our parents, whom my sister and I had always thought were ageless, were declining rapidly and desperate because I knew they needed help and were quickly using up what limited resources they had. Actually, I had walked by the Coalition offices before and even paused to wonder if they could help or simply provide direction? Well providence indeed led me to stop. I was ushered to a case manager's
office by a sympathetic volunteer. As I related my story, I could tell
that I had come to the right place. Providence. The case manager's face
revealed more than mere concern. I knew that ours was not just another
case. Her response lifted my spirits. "Yes, we can help!" It
was the beginning of your being there.
Providence indeed had led us to the Coalition and especially to our case manager whose frequent visits went above and beyond. We will be forever grateful. May you continue to be there for all who need you to be there. Son of Client Family |
