Family Caregiver Education Series
Join us to learn about topics of interest to families and friends of those with Alzheimer's or a related dementia on the second Monday of each month. On Monday, February 13th, 5:30 - 7:00 PM at the Hawthorne Library, 2707 East Washington Ave., Madison.

The topic will be, "Family caregiving: The unexpected career". Caregiving for a family member with dementia is a job you never expected or trained for. Find ways to balance your new responsibilities within your unique family situation. No registration necessary - just drop in. Questions: 608.232.3400.

Second annual Carter Fuller Memory Screening Day
In honor of Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller, there will be a free and confidential memory screening event open to the public on Saturday, February 18th, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM at the Urban League of Greater Madison, 2222 S. Park St., Madison. It includes a short informational program on Alzheimer's disease at 10 am. Light snacks will be provided.

Dr. Carter Fuller was the first black psychiatrist in the U.S. and played a key role in the development of psychiatry in the 1900s. He worked closely with Dr. Alois Alzheimer, the namesake of Alzheimer's disease.

Agrace HospiceCare Support Groups

Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center
5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison.
Educational seminar,on effective communication when someone is ill will be presented by Agrace HospiceCare in Madison in February. "What I meant to Say" will be held at the Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center.

Participants will learn about expressing themselves clearly and constructively to help reduce stress and prevent misunderstandings. Learn the five critical questions to ask the doctor when diagnosed with a life-limiting condition. Tips will also be shared to help participants prepare for doctor visits, ask critical questions and get the information needed to make informed decisions.

Grief support group series, a recurring support group and provide an introductory session for those grieving the death of a loved one. All of the sessions are open to the public and are provided without charge. All groups require pre-registration and are held at the Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison unless noted otherwise.

After the Caregiving Ends will be held February 6th through February 27th (Mondays), from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. Call Deb Tripalin to register at (608) 327-7418.

Bridges Weekly Support Group
This group meets every Wednesday from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM. This ongoing group is for adults who are grieving the death of a loved one. Pre-registration is Not required for this group.

Introduction to Grief
An informative session for adults that offers suggestions on how to navigate the grieving process and provides information about Agrace HospiceCare grief support groups. This session is available by appointment ONLY. Call Mary Severson at (608) 327-7182 to make an appointment.

Kids Support Group
January 23rd - February 20th on Mondays
5:30 - 7:00 PM

This five-week group is for elementary through high-school aged children who are grieving the death of a loved one. Participants begin the group by eating a meal together that is provided by Agrace.

Journey Through Grief

Gay & Gray Discussion Group

Madison Senior Center

Meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday each month at 2:00 PM
Senior adults from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered community meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. These are friendly conversations that are informal, open dialogs. LGBT persons, their friends, and families are welcomed. Participants determine the topics based on current interests; a facilitator attends each meeting.
