Classes at the Senior Center
The West Madison Senior Center is offering a number of new classes for our members. We hope that you will take advantage of these classes.

Life-Long Exercise Classes
Location: West Madison Senior Center
8:30 - 9:30 AM (Flexibility, strength and aerobic exercises)
9:45 - 10:45 AM (Lower intensity and adaptions are offered)
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
Classes include flexibility and strengthening exercises, and aerobic workout
and optional mat exercises. Newcomers welcome to join at any time. Class
fee is $3 for each class. Physical exercise is important for
maintaining physical fitness and can contribute positively to maintaining a healthy
weight, building and maintaining healthy bone density, muscle strength, and joint mobility,
promoting physiological well-being, reducing surgical risks, and strengthening the immune system.

Zumba Gold
Location: West Madison Senior Center

Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one of a kind
fitness program that will blow you away. Zumba Gold modifies the moves and pacing to
suit the needs of the active older participant as well as those just starting.
The cost is $5 per class and you pay ahead for the entire session. Please call Kari to register at 238-0196.
AARP Driver Safety

Cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers. Consult your insurance agent to see if

Brain Fitness Class
Location: West Madison Senior Center
The Month of May
9:30 - 10:30 AM
Tuesdays
Work out your brain! We will play fun and exciting games designed to stimulate your brain and
improve focus, memory, and attention. If you like games, people, talking or breathing this is the
program for you.
No RSVP required, but we do ask participants to show up before 9:10 AM.
(it is difficult to introduce late arrivals into some of our games).
Digital Camera Workshop
Location: West Madison Senior Center
June 5th and 12th
1:00 - 2:30 PM
Wednesday
Cost is $18. This workshop is for very beginners with a new camera or those needing a
good review of their camera. This two part digital camera workshop will cover the most important
functions of your camera to help you understand how to take great photographs.
Bring your camera, instruction booklet, fully charged batteries, any
charging cords and accessories to class. We will be exploring the camera
functions hands on, taking photos and testing many features which will
require lots of battery power. Backup batteries are recommended.
Kathy E. Esch BFA is a professional photographer, illustrator, painter
specializing in animal portraiture. She has an Associate Degree in liberal Arts
and Commercial Art from MATC Madison, also a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art
from UW Madison, Wisconsin. She has taught a wide range of art classes at
MATC, UW Mini Courses, MSCR and West Madison Senior Center.
Senior Stock Talks
Location: West Madison Senior Center
May thru August

Ever wondered how the stock market worked? Let's figure it out. Classes will work through
various mediums to better understand the stock market and other financial matters. Business
professionals will also be invited to present.
Cost: $1.00 for each class to cover the cost of materials. Coffee will be provided.This will be an open course, meaning you are
invited to drop in any week; however, course material will build from the previous week.

Arthritis Foundation Exercise Class
Location: West Madison Senior Center
Class runs June 20th through August 15th
9:00 - 9:45 AM
Thursdays
The class fee is $18. First class is free. This class includes multiple components to help reduce pain and
stiffness while maintaining or improving mobility, muscle strength
and functional ability. Certified instructors lead specially designed
exercises that can be performed while sitting or standing.
Gentle Yoga Class
Location: West Madison Senior Center
Class runs June 19th through August 14th
2:30 - 3:30 PM
Wednesdays
The cost of this course is $27. First class is free. A good fit for all ability levels, this class combines slow, gentle
yoga movements, breath awareness, and a bit of yoga philosophy. Class ends with meditation & relaxation.
Please bring a mat to class.
Tai Chi Basics
Location: West Madison Senior Center
Class runs June 17th through August 12th
3:20 - 4:20 PM

The cost of this class is $27. First class is free. Learn about the essence and the basics of Tai Chi, including exercises that can help with balance and strength.
