Coming of Age: Negotiating Health and Health Care as We Age
This video lecture will be presented by Mathy Mezey, EdD, RN, Director of the Hartford Institute of Geriatric Nursing at New York University's College of Nursing.
This was the lecture she presented for the Annual Thewlis Lecture on Gerontology and Geriatrics. If you only listen to one more lecture this year, make sure this is it.
Holistic Medicine and Acupuncture Presentation
Dr. Zhou will be giving a presentation about Holistic Medicine and Acupuncture. If you find yourself curious or suspicious about holistic medicine and acupuncture, come to this presentation. Let him talk to you about some of the techniques he and other holistic practitioners use. He will also answer questions at the end of the presentation.
Starting in December, we will be bringing out the Ping-Pong table on Monday afternoons.
Bring a partner and play some table tennis.
Come one, come all to the new Sing-Along group at the West Madison Senior Center. It's not just for choir-quality singers, but also for everyone who loves to sing! If you play an instrument, by all means, please bring it. We will provide the words and music. Come sing old and new favorites.

Ice Cream Sundae Monday and Presentation
Join us every month for an ice cream sundae and a presentation about senior health. This month's presentation: A Path to Improve the Care of Older Adults and Family Caregivers. Presented by Dr. Naylor, a Marian S. Ware Professor in Gerontology. This lecture will be screened by video.

Starting in November, we will be playing Bingo. Come join the fun and excitement and a chance to win some prizes.
Cribbage: A weekly gathering all about cribbage. Play a casual game or two, learn to play or brush up your skills. Then if you wish, stay for lunch. Lunch will be provided by Gaylord's Catering. It is very important to reserve a meal by calling 238-0196 before noon on Wednesdays. Lunch cost is $7.50. Anyone over 60 may pay donation. Suggested minimum donation is $4.00
Euchre and Bridge
Learn how to play Bridge or Euchre or simply refine your skills. All skill levels are invited to come and play in the friendly atmosphere at the West Madison Senior Center. Decaf coffee provided, coffee donations accepted. Call us if you ar interested in playing and we will do our best to pair you with a partner.
Decorative Card Making
Cost is $2. Make a festive, decorative card. The instructor will bring all of the supplies and then lead the class, showing participants how to make a decorative card. The cards made are always very high quality. RSVP by October 7th by calling 238-0196.
Harvard's Intro to Philosophy Class
Ever wonder what it would be like to sit in on a Harvard philosophy class? Here is your chance. Really. Michael Sandel, who teaches a class called Justice: What's the Right Thing to Do at Harvard, has loaded his lectures to the internet. The West Madison Senior Center will be playing his lectures every Thursday for the rest of the fall. We will watch them and then have a discussion.
The first five lectures will be as follows.
Knits & Bits Knitting Club
Cost is Free. Do you pine for a pullover or hanker for a hat? If you believe time in front of the television is wasted, then join "Knits & Bits" and exchange tips and tricks or moans and groans as we chat over our needles. Contact Will at 238-0196 and let him know you would like to join.
Dinner and a Movie Every Monday
Dinner will be provided by Gaylord's Catering. To reserve a meal call 238-0196 before noon on the preceding Friday. Meals cost $7.50. Suggested donations $4.00. If you simply wish to enjoy popcorn and a show, just drop in. No reservations are needed for the show.
